happy birthday to me!
Holy CRAP LOOK AT THE HEAT SIGNATURE
He doesn’t have one. The room is warm and red, but Loki is a solid green blob of no body heat. That’s cool. Literally. Loki has no heat signature.
The parallels of these two moments kill me
In Thor, not being able to lift Mjolnir was the worst kind of punishment. Everything he knew and felt about himself was ripped apart, when he was no longer worthy. He wanted nothing more than to be able to life it, to be worthy again, so that he could go home. Back to his family, back to his life. But he isn’t worthy, he was arrogant, and foolish And this is when he realises the severity of his banishment, in this moment. What it means to be powerless.
Cut to the Avengers. The brother, who he grew up with, who he loves dearly, is raging war on the one place he swore to protect, the one place he loves possibly as much as he love Asgard, and to top it off, just tried to kill him. But none of that matters to Thor. Loki will always be his brother, regardless of his parentage or what wrongs he does. In this moment Thor knows he is worthy. He could have called Mjolnir to him, instead of walking over. But he knows that the sooner he lifts Mjolnir, the sooner he has to go and try to stop his brother. By any means necessary. How can the possibility, of him having to kill his brothers, be something that makes him worthy or Mjolnir’s power?
#i think what people need to understand about thor is that he’s not a total idiot #he may not be as sharp as loki #but he’s got a good head on his shoulders #see how he could convince all his friends in Thor to come with him when they all weren’t having it? #you’d need smarts for that #but on Midgard he just doesn’t get stuff like monkeys or whatever #but he gets along just fine #he didn’t recoil in horror at seeing a plane or a computer #but accepted them as a factor in Midgard that he doesn’t have back home and has the ingenuity to work with it #i get a bit annoyed in fic or whatever when Thor is portrayed as the great lumbering loveable idiot #that spends most of his day figuring out how a toaster works #as he’s really not
A little bit of Rogers in my life
A little bit of Iron Man by my side
A little bit of Tasha is all I need
A little bit of Thor is what I see
A little bit of Bruce in the sun
A little bit of Hawkeye all night long
A little bit of Loki here I am
A little bit of you makes me your man
I understand that they cut it for pacing and I agree with the choice but I love that in this scene Tony’s first reaction was to pick up a gun and fight and not just run.
I love this deleted scene so much. Not only is it wonderfully proactive, which I adore on principle, it underscores something people tend to gloss over: Tony was a weapons designer and manufacturer. He designed and built weapons for a living. He knows how to use a gun, okay? He can likely take it apart, clean it, improve it, put it back together again, and hit what he aims at. He does not need Natasha or Clint to take him to the shooting range and teach him which end of a gun goes bang. Why doesn’t the gun work here? It jammed. That’s it. It happens.
In short: Tony Stark does not need the suit to be a badass.
^all of that. couldn’t have said it better myself.
that’s probably one of my favorite (even though it’s a deleted one) scenes ever.
